Description
Embark on a full-day adventure to Hwange National Park, Zimbabwe’s largest and oldest game reserve, renowned for its incredible variety of wildlife and birdlife. Located just two hours south of Victoria Falls, this safari day trip offers a deep dive into Zimbabwe’s untamed beauty.
Your journey begins at 06:30 AM with a hotel pick-up. Be sure to arrange a packed breakfast with your lodge. As you travel through the countryside, you’ll pass traditional villages, rural schools, hospitals, and churches, gaining insight into Zimbabwean rural life. A highlight en route is the Hwange Colliery, a major coal mining operation exporting across the globe.
Upon arrival at the park, you’ll transfer into an open 4×4 game drive vehicle, where an armed and experienced guide will lead you on a morning game drive. Visit several active waterholes—key wildlife hotspots—where you may encounter elephants, lions, buffalos, giraffes, zebras, and more. Take in the park’s scenic hides, expertly placed to provide fantastic views of the animals and terrain.
After your morning safari, enjoy lunch at one of the safari lodges within the park. Then, as the day cools and wildlife becomes more active, embark on a second game drive. Late afternoons offer some of the best game viewing opportunities, especially as animals gather at the waterholes before dusk.
The safari concludes at around 5:45 PM, with a transfer back to your hotel in Victoria Falls.
